It is with great pleasure that we can announce that, following due process, Martin, Bishop of Chichester, has appointed the Reverend Simon Earnshaw to be the new Rector for the benefice of East Blatchington and Bishopstone. Fr. Simon, who was ordained at the same time as Fr Joe, is at present the Assistant Curate at Clayton with Keymer in West Sussex.
The date for Fr. Simon’s licensing is yet to be decided but we look forward to welcoming him, and his family, in the very near future.
Here is a message from Fr Simon …
“I would like to say how thrilled I am to have been offered and to have accepted the post of Rector of the United Benefice of East Blatchington and Bishopstone. I am very much looking forward to getting to know you all, and serving you in the years to come. My wife Victoria and our two teenage daughters, Hannah and Naomi, are also excited to be moving to the area and meeting you all.
I am originally from Blackburn in Lancashire, and prior to ordination worked as a dental surgeon. I completed my ordination training at St. Mellitus college in London and served my assistant curacy in the Parish of Clayton with Keymer.
Please be assured of my prayers for you in this time of transition and as the new church year and season of Advent begin. Please pray also for us as a family as we get ready to join you in the benefice in the new year.”
